Strategic planning

A clear plan for the next one to three years.

We help your board and staff agree on where you are going and how to get there, so growth is intentional, not a reaction to every opportunity.

The problem

Reacting to every opportunity, with no plan.

Without a plan, a small org chases each new grant or idea and stretches thin. The board and staff are not always pulling the same direction.

How it helps you grow

Focus, alignment, and a plan you will use.

Everyone aligned

Board and staff on the same page about what matters most.

Priorities, not a wish list

A focused set of goals you can actually pursue.

A plan you will use

Clear steps, owners, and dates, not a document that sits on a shelf.

Growth on purpose

Room to say no to the wrong things and yes to the right ones.

Sample case study

Clearwater Bend fits its whole plan on one page.

An illustrative case study. The sample deliverables it describes are real and open from the cards below.

The organization

Clearwater Bend Watershed Council, planning edition: three priorities, seven workstreams, one page the board actually reads.

The problem

A 40-page strategic plan nobody opened after the retreat, priorities that changed with whoever spoke last, and a roadmap that hid its slips until they became emergencies.

What we build

A plan on a page with countable outcomes, an impact-against-effort map that makes deprioritizing honest, and a quarterly roadmap that shows dependencies and admits slips out loud. The samples below are the working set.

What changes

In a planning cycle like this, the plan fits on the board-room wall, the hard calls (like a beloved event that eats eleven staff weeks) get made with numbers on the table, and the roadmap stays true because slipping in public is allowed. Seven workstreams tracked, two proposals deliberately parked: focus you can count.

The real part: Our founder has served as a nonprofit board treasurer and president; these are the pages built for that table.
